The Public Relations Women Foundation is a global social impact enterprise strengthening the practice, leadership and economic relevance of public relations by building elite communities, globally mobile talent pipelines and high-level capability platforms for communications professionals and institutions.
The Foundation is deliberately rooted in emerging markets, where public relations has evolved in response to distinct political, economic and societal realities, and where practitioners have long contributed intellectual, strategic and operational value to the global profession without commensurate visibility or access to global infrastructure.
At a time when the profession is often framed through Euro-American institutional lenses, the Foundation advances a more inclusive and accurate understanding of global public relations — one that recognises the leadership, innovation and adaptive practice developed across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, and positions professionals from these markets as central contributors to the future of the field.
To advance professional leadership, capability, and economic impact in public relations, with inclusive global participation.
To strengthen the practice, leadership, and institutional relevance of communications through elite networks, mobility of talent, and high-impact programmes, particularly in emerging markets.
Maintaining the highest standards of professional competence and leadership.
Fostering collaboration, trust, and shared learning among professionals.
Promoting diverse voices and experiences from emerging and established markets.
Supporting long-term professional and institutional growth.
Linking communications practice to measurable economic, social, and organisational outcomes.
The Foundation builds on the legacy of Nigerian Women in PR, a professional community established to address structural barriers limiting access, visibility and leadership progression for women practitioners within Nigeria.
As the community matured, it became clear that the challenges and opportunities it responded to were not unique. Across emerging markets, public relations professionals were building sophisticated practices under complex conditions — navigating regulatory volatility, trust deficits, political transitions and rapid economic change — while remaining underrepresented in global leadership and professional decision-making spaces.
This recognition shaped the Foundation’s evolution into a globally oriented institution with a deliberate focus on emerging markets, designed not to replicate existing global models, but to complement and challenge them by foregrounding expertise developed outside traditional centres of influence.
The Foundation delivers its mandate through three interconnected pillars, each designed to strengthen professional and institutional capacity across markets.
Through elite professional communities, the Foundation convenes senior women in public relations and communications in trusted environments that enable peer exchange, leadership development and cross-regional collaboration.
Through globally mobile talent pipelines, it facilitates career continuity, institutional fit and cross-border opportunity, enabling organisations to access communications professionals who are culturally fluent, strategically trained and equipped to operate across diverse contexts.
Through high-level capability platforms, including bespoke training and convening, the Foundation supports institutions, funders and organisations seeking communications leadership that aligns with complex stakeholder environments and evolving societal expectations.
The Public Relations Women Foundation is led by a founding leadership team with deep professional experience across public relations, communications, business and institutional engagement within emerging and global markets.
As part of its institutional development, the Foundation is establishing a formal Board to provide governance oversight, strategic direction and fiduciary responsibility in line with international best practice for social impact enterprises.
Information on leadership, Board composition and governance structures will be published as these frameworks are formally constituted.
The Foundation operates as a standards-led institution committed to professionalism, discretion, collegiality and long-term impact.
Its work is shaped by the lived professional realities of emerging markets while maintaining global benchmarks for governance, credibility and institutional engagement. Distinct in structure and practice from traditional NGOs, the Foundation acts as a steward of professional infrastructure, facilitating leadership development, talent mobility and institutional collaboration in ways that are ethical, durable and globally relevant.
This enables the Foundation to work with corporate partners, multilateral organisations, academic institutions and professional leaders who recognise that the future of public relations leadership should be shaped across multiple geographies, reflecting the peculiarities of practice.
